What is a Systemic Constellation and how does it work?

In short, systemic work is interested in all the ways in which we are embedded into the human, social and natural systems of which we are a part, with all the consequences that this interconnectedness creates.

Constellations facilitate restoring wholeness in a way that supports movement and love. They focus on connecting parts that have been separated and including parts that are missing. They rest on principles of order, belonging and place.

In this work health is rooted in being the right size, standing in the right place and carrying only that which belongs to us, while respectfully returning all other aspects of our systems to their original places of belonging, with love.

In a group setting an issue holder is invited to ask other participants to represent various aspects of their system. With the help of the facilitator a physical representation of the issue is set up. It is then phenomenologically explored with movement and healing sentences, guiding the system towards a new image of a resolution.

In a one to one setting the same principles are applied. However, unlike the use of human representatives in a group to set up an issue, one to one work is supported with creative imagination, direct use of the client’s body, as well as objects and space. This way of working can be more suitable for delicate and sensitive issues incompatible with open sharing in a group. It can also be extremely helpful for urgent pieces of work that need immediate attention and cannot wait for the next group.

For anyone new to this work, I always recommend attending a workshop. Coming as a representative offers a beautiful way to begin to explore this method. Once you feel comfortable to bring your own issue, booking an issue holder space offers an opportunity to start doing your own work.

It is a commonly shared experience of working in this way that we all collectively do our work together. All issues become a gift to all participants and everyone leaves the workshops a little bit more connected, included and whole.

Similarly, any work that is done one to one benefits all the systems to which we belong, as well as our own personal lives.

This work sets off healing in every known and unknown direction through space and time. Our healing heals the whole.
